This six-part workshop series on sustainable renovation will cover the steps needed to renovate an existing building, particularly one with historic significance, in an energy efficient, sustainable and durable manner.
Focus: Window Solutions for Historic Renovations & Planning for a Sustainable Site
Topics: Double-hung windows, building envelope, bioswales, vegetated green roofs, rain gardens, native grasses, rain water harvesting, permeable pavers, retaining walls, soil reclamation and more.
Hear honest discussions regarding the challenges and solutions in renovating historic windows from the perspective of a local Sherman Hill renovator. Learn how to take apart and repair double hung windows as well as the challenges involved with keeping the old windows while matching the energy savings offered from today’s windows. We’ll also look into the planning associated with designing and constructing stormwater management and native landscaping in our Iowa climate.
