Hardscape Solutions of Iowa, Inc. is the installer of the Green & Main permeable paver parking lot. The most significant impact of this particular installation design for the project is the elimination of stormwater runoff and 90% of first flush pollutants. Due to leaking, vehicles in parking lots create a sizeable quantity of oil and heavy metal pollutants. A permeable paver system improves the water quality that infiltrates the ground as it flows between the pavers and through the open graded aggregate material sub base. As stormwater flows through the aggregate sub base, bacteria and microbe growth promoted by the aggregate act to break down the oil and heavy metals, greatly reducing the amount of waste entering the soil beneath the paving system.
